We are proud to announce B.I.G. Supplies are now officially using the IMDS International Material Data System system.
The IMDS is the automotive industry material data system has become a global standard and is currently used by almost all of the OEMs around the world. It is a joint development of Audi, BMW, Daimler, Chrysler, Ford, Opel, Porsche, VW and the Swedish automotive manufacturer Volvo. Further manufacturers have joined the project and talks are currently being held with other manufacturers who are yet to join in relation to their participation with the IMDS – International Material Data System.
With the IMDS – International Material Data System, all materials used for car manufacture are archived and maintained. It is only possible to meet the obligations placed on car manufacturers, and thus on their suppliers, by national and international standards, laws and regulations by using the comprehensive International Material Data System.
All material information in IMDS is based on a list of basic substances. This substance list allows the IMDS user to set up a management system for dangerous substances for their products whilst allowing them to query the current status.
